Honestly if you have already downloaded WeChat, you can use WeChat as translator. It can translate your typing or just simply take a picture of something and it will translate for you. No need so many apps, WeChat is the only one you need. It is even connected with Dianping and didi and Amap

found this too late. Just got back from China the other day. I got papago, pleco as translation but those stuffs piss me off. Google translate was the most accurate so far. I just use e-sim, and google worked just fine. I got it from Alipay that has mini app redirected to trip* com. Mobile data was fast and reliable on all corners. Alipay works wonders since it has didi (cab hailing app), one thing was, i need to refesh my alipay that's connected to my bank everytime when i pay. Its just good for backup. Cash is just fine when going to tourist spots, i should've stick to it.
