Day 1 of being a temporary stay at home mom to my twins @Tilearcio Twins 🎥 I genuinely did not think 15,000+ people would follow me in two days. When I opened up about leaving my TV news career because my mom, who was my childcare, is living with bipolar disorder, I braced for the worst. Instead the internet did something it doesn’t always do- it was kind. The honest version of today: I was in my pajamas until 5pm. My apartment has been running on survival mode and it shows. But I’m ready to turn that all around. And we got outside for our first long walk in a while! I also signed up for the gym (which has child care during your workout!!), so I can finally tackle these last stubborn 40 lbs. separately, I used to silently get a little upset when women in news had babies and then a few months later decided to stay home. What I didn’t realize was that I was watching people make a choice I wasn’t ready to understand yet. They weren’t quitting… they were reprioritizing and no longer pouring into an industry that doesn’t pour into them and instead redirecting that energy into their children. Now I’m doing the same except journalism isn’t something I’m leaving behind. I’m just rebuilding what it looks like for me.
