the 1984 movie The Killing Fields is a dramatization about a couple survivors of the Khmer Rouge, its actually been said that they had scale back the horror that happen because they wouldnt have been able to get an R rating, it would have been X rated because of how horrible the things that happened there.

My best friend is Khemr and her family escaped from this insanity. The stories they have shared with me will chill your soul. They are the most amazing and resilient people you could ever meet. I went to Cambodia in 2019 and I cannot wait to go back.

i went to cambodia years ago and went to the war museum. the guide told this exact stories. Khmer Rouge wiped out majority of the educated people and are responsible to halt Cambodia's progress to be lagging by decades. it's sad because Cambodia was caught in the middle and became the battlefield for the war between US and the communist. there were tons of mines, some unexploded bomb still remains hidden
