As both a high school and college teacher: make them write their assignments in pen and paper. Even if they used AI to make it, they will have to at least copy it and, thus, read what they're delivering. It's dystopian af but at least it works

High School English teacher here! Every essay is written on lined paper first and those papers cannot leave the classroom and they cannot get their computers out until they've written their assigned paragraph. I check each one everyday and it has helped significantly.
