@jazzyoho: Every spring the Sage Grouse (and other species of Grouse and Prairie Chickens) gather in large numbers on their breeding/dancing grounds. The males inflate the pouches on their chests, which can create a booming/popping sound when thrust together (you can faintly hear it on my video). They also fan their tails. This is all in the hopes to attract a mate. This is something I have always wanted to see, and I am so grateful to have finally witnessed it for myself. It is crazy to think this happens within 30 minutes of my house! Note…leks are very sensitive so I was about 300-400 feet away. I just have a camera with a good zoom. It is important to observe ethically. #grouse #lek #sagegrouse #birdwatching
