@louisethompson: Please copy and paste this message to email your local mp. It takes less than 1 minute. 👇🏼 Your local mp can be found here : https://members.parliament.uk/FindYourMP (quite useful to know for future) Dear [MP Name], As your constituent, I am writing ahead of the Parliamentary debate on 20th April concerning the petition led by Louise Thompson and Theo Clarke calling for the appointment of a Maternity Commissioner. Over 153,000 people have signed this petition which recommends this appointment and was a key recommendation of the cross party 2024 Birth Trauma Inquiry. The public support for the role is clear. The petitioners, both mums affected by birth trauma, have been invited to meet the Health Secretary later this month and we understand the Government is now seriously considering this appointment. As a [mother/parent/friend or family member of an affected parent], I am asking you to pledge your support for this important new role which will help improve care for new mothers and babies. I am writing today to ask you: 1. Will you put into speak in this petitions debate on 20 April in Westminster Hall at 4.30pm on your local maternity services? 2. Will you make the case to the Government to recommend the appointment of a Maternity Commissioner in the concluding findings of Baroness Amos current national investigation which is due to report in June? 3. Will you press the Minister to provide a clear timeline for when this appointment will take place and ask why it has not yet done so given the continued failings in NHS maternity care? Families affected by birth trauma have waited long enough for meaningful reform. The recommendation for a Maternity Commissioner was widely supported from a cross party report. Failure to act now risks further erosion of trust in maternity services. I would appreciate a written response confirming that you will attend the debate in person to raise these points. Yours sincerely, [Name] [Postcode] #birthtrauma #maternitycare #maternalmentalhealth #mothersoftiktok #ptsd

My sons birth was traumatic the should have sent me for a c section as he was stuck I wasn’t dilating! My son is now profoundly autistic with other neurological conditions.. often wonder if lack of oxygen at birth was a factor in this as he is very severe (although he doesn’t look it) they do say lack of oxygen and traumatic birth can cause these things
