Then— “Let her sleep alone tonight.” Y/n blinked. “What?” Jungwon lifted his head, looking at her with a serious expression that didn’t quite match the softness in his eyes. “I just got home,” he said. “And you’re already thinking about her.” Y/n stared at him, trying to process what he meant. “I always think about her,” she said slowly. “I know,” he sighed. “But… can you think about me too?” That caught her off guard. For once, Jungwon wasn’t teasing. He wasn’t joking. He just looked… a little tired. And maybe a little needy. Y/n’s expression softened. “Jungwon…” “She sleeps between us every night,” he continued, his voice quieter now. “I come home late, and the only thing I look forward to is holding you. But I can’t even do that properly.” He gave a small, almost embarrassed laugh. “I sound pathetic.” “You do,” she said automatically. He scoffed. “Wow. Thanks.” “But…” she added, gently placing her hand on his cheek, “I get it.” Jungwon went silent. “I miss you too,” she admitted. “Even if you’re literally just working… I still miss you.” Something in his expression softened instantly. “Then stay,” he whispered. “I am staying.” “No,” he shook his head slightly, leaning closer. “Like this.” He pulled her in again, resting his forehead against hers. “No Jiwoon. No distractions. Just us.” Y/n hesitated for a second. Her mind went to their daughter, sleeping alone in the next room. But then she looked at Jungwon again—really looked at him. The dark circles. The quiet longing. The way he held her like he needed her just as much as their daughter did. “…Okay,” she whispered. Jungwon blinked. “Okay?” “Just for tonight.” He smiled—this time, not teasing, not playful. Just… relieved. He pulled her closer, burying his face in her neck. “Finally,” he murmured. Y/n chuckled softly. “Don’t get used to it.” “No promises.” Minutes passed. Maybe longer. Y/n was just about to fall asleep when— A faint sound echoed from outside the room. A small cry. Both of them froze. “…Jiwoon,” Y/n whispered. Jungwon closed his eyes, clearly fighting himself. The cry came again—soft, sleepy, confused. Y/n slowly started to move— But Jungwon tightened his hold for a second. “…Give me five more seconds,” he mumbled.
