@goodmorningbritain: Vicky Pattison said she was left feeling ashamed and dismissed by healthcare professionals whilst she waited five years for a Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder diagnosis. Last year Vicky met the Health Secretary Wes Streeting after she investigated medical misogyny for Good Morning Britain. Today the Government is promising that it will provide faster care and put women's voices at the heart of their new women's health strategy. #medicalmisogony #vickypattison #goodmorningbritain

When i was in labour, after 36 hours, it was decided I needed an emergency cesarean section. I had 2 options, a spinal block where my partner could be in the room while she was delivered, or general aesthetic where he wouldn't.
They asked him first which he'd prefer.

Omg! What year are we living in? Why are we not listened to? We are not hysterical, we need to be listened to by healthcare professionals

Adenomyosis- it’s taken nearly 20 years with my symptoms to get a diagnosis. I’ve been gaslit for years. We put our trust in /GPs and I feel massively let down

What is most scary about this is that this is a world wide issue! It’s not about national healthcare. This is society everywhere.

As a child, it was fine. Doctors, hospital specialists, paediatricians etc, fine. Going as an adult, I've left crying, I've been patronised, I broke down in a waiting room. Basically told me it was in my head. I've got Chronic Pulmonary Disease. So actually it was in my lungs, not in my head.

More recently, me and my partner have had similar issue with constipation and risk symptoms for colon/bowel cancer. He got a FIIT test and colonoscopy, I got laxatives and told it could be gynae related with no further action

My favourite, why is my partners vasectomy on my referral notes? What the hell does that have to do with MY fibroid which took over 5 months to get a scan for, now still waiting for an appointment

I often take my husband along regarding my MECFS and neuropathy symptoms as he acts as a witness and medics are definitely more likely to believe me when he backs me up. It is awful but I do it because it works.
