@fisherzhangs_in_china: The words my father-in-law spoke on the Great Wall that day have stayed with me in a way I didn't expect. He looked around and said, "死之前还能上把长城也值了" — "Being able to stand on the Great Wall one last time before I die, that alone makes it all worth it." At the time, I didn't think much of it. But lately, it's hit me differently. Life is short — shorter than we realize. So we have to appreciate every moment we get, because we don't know how many are left. And even if this turns out to be our last moment together, at least we have each other. That's what matters. #china #chinalife #family #realtalk #couple
Well, we very much hope he will be there again—and with us—this summer while we are in China. Sending him love 💕💕💕

There’s always going to be a last time for everything. I’m getting pretty old myself. I bought a pair of jeans the other day and walked out of the store thinking ‘I probably won’t have to do that again’. Maybe I shouldn’t go for quality.

Love the reflective discussion. It made me realise that once you’ve been somewhere, you can always return to the experience as an internal, personal experience. There’s solace in that, acceptance and gratitude.

I think the translation should be something like “ being to the great wall once is great in your life but twice is amazing “ ? Love your content 👍👍👍

To be grateful for every moment you have with loved ones and never knowing when it could be the last . It makes me think of my Nan as her one year death anniversary is coming up and missing her so much and I’m so grateful for every memory I have.

I appreciate that you care for your father in law. But it's very important that you don't make your wife carry your grief over her own father. Of course share and communicate. This is essential and you want an open space for your children to communicate effectively. But society is built in certain ways and you have a responsibility to unpack that mental labour and make sure you are being a space of safety and comfort. Your wife is clearly a very natural protector and goes straight into supporting you.
