the answer is both, but it's in the opposite order. we don't learn grief until we lose love. that grief often makes the love you still have that much deeper, because there is an understanding of what can be lost

depends. sometimes it’s both. especially for young people. love comes before the grief. but sometimes it comes after. for example i lost my husband and that grief was unlike anything i’ve ever felt. my love for my now bf is so different bc im full of grief. i love my bf with the thought of life is short and we have to make every moment count, where as i loved my husband carelessly like we had all the time in the world. it would also be the same concept for losing a friend.
