@alicia.trautwein: Autistic kids aren’t “choosing” chaos after school. Their brains are finally safe enough to drop the mask and feel the full impact of the day’s restraint collapse. #LearnOnTikTok #TikTokLearningCampaign #autismawareness autistic child after school after school restraint collapse autistic meltdown after school autistic after school behavior autism after school routine autistic masking at school autistic child meltdowns at home autism sensory overload school day supporting autistic kids after school autism parent tips after school autistic nervous system overload autistic regulation after school autistic burnout in children neurodivergent kids after school autistic child decompression time
One of my friends is autistic and I let them know "if your overwhelmed let me know ok? I can do things for you if you'd like me to" they let me know and I help them with things

for me this happened because I was so overstimulated and othered, bullied and isolated, that i was disassociating all day. and then I got home, where I was almost safe enough to exist in my body. the switch up was a tiny bit off putting, and that resulted in a meltdown or a shutdown.

I have both adhd and autism so when this happens it usually takes all day for me to recover 😭😭

I think this may have been a part of why I dropped out/my mom pulled me out of highschool... I dropped out of highschool after barely being in sophomore/10th grade (while being 17/the age of an 11th grader). I was under constant stress due to school being loud and disorienting to my nervous system. I would lock myself in my room just to not be around people. I couldn't do homework without it being an easy worksheet and hoping myself up and spending hours on one tiny packet, I was extremely irritable, and constantly dissociating (due to having a complex dissociative disorder).

add child here umm so that's what it's called 😅 I just called it I'm so done with everything goodbye people and stayed in my room or the basement for hours and never really getting anything done... but you know what just because I'm a kid still doesn't mean I can't try to do better. I'll probably just end up giving up in a week anyways... oh well have a good day:D
