is there a branch based high yielding savings account as I don't do online banking. what can you recommend so I can put my savings in there. if I am correct once you get £1,000 then you pay tax on interest if you are a basic tax payer. how do you know if you are a basic tax payer

Is it not worth putting in that £300 in a 12 month regular saver, with a lower interest rate due to compounding? I asked A.I. and they said a savings account for 12 months would only need 1.9% to get the same interest! Is this not the same?
