Would you start to roll over your 401 to a Roth 3 to 4 years before retiring? I’m hearing a lot about this lately. Like don’t do it two years before because it might change your Medicare blah blah. Starting to think about these things in my early 60s. Not planning on retiring until 70. Summer off and only on campus teaching a couple days a week. 👍

great points. I had to care for my husband when he got cancer at 54 until 57. I'm thankful we were debt free and that we had his life insurance, pension and now 3 years later, survivor SSA, in order to live the standard of living we were used to.

A couple of years away from retirement, but think I have decided to go into semi retirement, just work 20 hours a week at my own pace so I’m no longer beholden to the man, but I stair step down my work activities and have a little income as well.

I was recently riffed at age 57 and felt like it was a dry run for what my retired life will look like. In order to stave off boredom and depression I absolutely had to stick to my anchors and seek out new activities not related to the job search. Great advice!
