My husband and 7 year old came 2 weeks after me in July... I had to do an application for them to come this early. By then, I had housing settled, and my son was registered for school. My husband had to apply for work permit (2-3 months wait). Therefore, he was there to drop off and get my son from school etc. We adjusted 1 week at a time until settled- it takes time. I couldn't do without them for longer... Situations vary...

As mentioned earlier situations vary. Somewhat easier for those with a partner (depending on if they have a job and work schedule). I’m speaking as a single mom of two. Age of the children is also something to consider. Day care can be expensive. You also have to consider teacher work days or other days where you have to be at work while your children have to stay home. Who will take care of them the

11 years ago when I came with my then 5 year old, while I had housing before I arrived, I found taking my child to a doctor to get the shots they required and finding childcare for when my child I couldn’t bring my child with me was very stressful. Just navigating the system can be stressful

Agreed! My son came 6 months later, and it made a huge difference. I was settled and in a better place mentally and physically to help him make the transition.
