@humphreytalks: 👀 Here are 3 signs that tell me you are ahead financially: 1️⃣ You know what you spend. You don’t have to track every single dollar, but knowing a rough estimate of what you spend your money on, and what categories it goes toward - can help you with your budget. If you ever want to run a business, you want to make sure you can run your own life P/L first! 2️⃣ You save at least 15% of your income. With Americans only saving about 4-5% of their income, if you can 2x or 3x that rate, you can not only save for a comfortable retirement, you are actually doing very well. 3️⃣ You track your net worth. That’s simply represented as: Assets - Liabilities = Net Worth. So add up all your assets (bank accounts, cars, property), subtract any debts (student loans, loans, credit cards), and your Net Worth is the difference. How many of these apply to you? I definitely overspend on food, but my bills are always paid on time and in full, and I don’t buy many material items unless I really need it

The net worth one is underrated. Most people treat it as a vanity metric but it's actually the only number that tells you the truth about your financial life — income can lie, savings rate can lie, but net worth is the scorecard you can't fake. The psychology of actually tracking it regularly is what separates people who build wealth from people who just earn money.
