@southeastveterinaryneuro: When a dog or cat starts limping, most people immediately think of a bone, joint, or muscle injury. But what if the problem isn’t orthopedic at all? SEVN breaks down a common misconception and explains how neurological conditions affecting the brain or spinal cord can also cause limping, weakness, or abnormal movement. Learn the key signs that help veterinarians tell the difference, and why an accurate diagnosis is so important for your pet’s recovery. #limpingdog #limping #veterinaryneurology #neurology #vetmed
Started with “neck pain” but nothing would elicit a pain response, started to knuckle and get worse in her gait. Then they thought it was a knee joint infection. Ended up being IVDD which I first suspected. Progressed even though she was on strict crate rest since the start of her “neck pain” and ended up with a hemilaminectomy. She’s back to “normal” but I’m terrified of he doing it again. Everyone should have insurance if they have a breed prone to IVDD.
