@jamies.running: For the next few weeks I’m stripping it back to basics… Post-marathon is about scaling things back, slowing things down, and laying foundations on which to build again when the next race comes around. That’ll mean longer slower runs, but I’m also going to increase the amount of strength work I do to mix things up and ultimately become stronger all-round. Today was the first run back, nice and light at 6:00/km for 5km (30 mins total). Then I did some contrasting - hopping between the sauna and ice bath for a while. I’ve got a BIG year of events ahead - Blaydon Race (a little under 10km), a mountain marathon, 100 mile ultra, two more international World Major Marathons and the Great North Run (half marathon). A strong foundation will ensure I turn up to each start line fit and ready, and (just as importantly) make it to each finish line! #r#Runningr#runnerr#runlifer#runningmotivationfitTok
