Hear me out, pay them out per job. If they actually worked the whole 8 hours and got done 2 weeks before deadline give them the 2 weeks pay as a bonus or vacation.

All these people that have never actually worked in construction. Everyone has a task and sometimes they have to wait for someone else to finish before they can start. Easier, faster, cheaper to be there and wait to work than it is to be somewhere else and have to be called in when it’s your turn.

Also as someone who works in a construction adjacent job: there are tasks that have to be done in a specific order. Like, I cannot install thing A if it has to bolt into frame B which isn’t built yet. So I wait for the guy working on B to finish.

Not construction but I work in landscaping. For sure we get tired and need a breather here and there but most of the time I’m standing around it’s because I just finished my task and I need to wait for my partner to finish his task before we can go to the next part of the job. Not everything can be a two person job.

exactly. I don't think I've ever worked a job where everybody is working 100% of their shift. sometimes you just need to stop. And when you're working a physical job, especially out in the heat, definitely need to take time to just stand there

A lot of times when people drive by and yell “get back to work” they don’t see the concrete truck behind their car that we were waiting on, or waiting on the one part we needed, or waiting for our work to be inspected and cleared to continue.

Literally as long as they do what they have to do there’s nothing wrong with taking a rest. Even if it doesn’t get done if they need that rest it’s okay it’s hot outside now and they do hard work

when I work outside in the summer the typical hour is 15 min of "wtf do we do", 15 min of doing work, and 30 min of walking back to the truck and sitting in the AC questioning my life decisions. drink 4 gallons of water and sweat 5 gallons.
