We hear you, and we owe our community a clear explanation. We are an independent brand built on your trust. We’ve been growing quickly and with that growth we’ve had some exciting opportunities and pains as well. We didn't handle this transition with the speed of communication you deserve, and for that, we are sorry. The truth is, we are evolving, and we want our words to match our reality.
On Manufacturing & Our Roots
We started in SF and LA, and that remains our home. While we continue to manufacture in LA and with other US partners, our production is now a mix of domestic and overseas partners in China and is constantly evolving.
While we have always listed the origin of every garment on the garment and its individual product page as either 'Made in LA' or 'Imported' we realize our 'About' page was out of date and didn't reflect this mix clearly. We previously noted that we were 'mostly' made in LA, but as that balance shifted, we didn't update our brand story quickly enough to reflect the change. This wasn't an attempt to hide the truth; as a small team, our operations simply moved faster than our website updates. We could have done better updating our website and this shift in real-time.
On Fabrics & Sustainability
We’ve heard the feedback on polyester. While we prioritize natural fibers, some styles use poly for durability and fit. We’re continuing to reduce reliance on virgin poly and expand the use of recycled materials.
Why the Change in Language?
We removed broad terms like 'ethical' from our descriptions not because our standards changed, but because we want to be more precise. We’d rather show you our specific progress than hide behind a buzzword that can be interpreted in many ways.
We’re committed to doing better and keeping this conversation open. Thanks so much for listening and continuing to grow with us.
With gratitude,
Lisa
