Vaccines are one of the most studied and effective medical interventions in history. Smallpox was eradicated through vaccination. Polio cases dropped by over 99 percent worldwide after immunization programs. Measles was eliminated in the US and only returned when vaccination rates fell. That pattern is consistent and repeatable: when vaccination declines, preventable diseases come back. In veterinary medicine, the same data holds. Before routine vaccines, distemper, parvo, and rabies caused widespread illness and death. Today, the vast majority of severe cases occur in unvaccinated animals. Vaccine reactions do exist, but they are rare and typically mild, while the diseases themselves carry a far higher risk of suffering and death. This isn’t about opinion or fear. It’s about population-level evidence collected over decades, across species. Vaccines work so well that people forget what they prevent. That amnesia doesn’t change the science. #veterinarian #thefeinvet #evidencebasedmedicine #factsnotopinion #veterinarymedicine #vetmed #internalmedicine #veterinaryspecialists
