If an Alfred ascended to the throne, would they still be called Alfred II? Do they still count previous rulers with that name if they were from a different house and/or a different configuration (like being king of England before the UK existed)? Technically the UK has never had a king Alfred so would a future hypothetical British monarch with that name still be King Alfred II?
