@the.finance.engineer: Buying movie tickets with cryptocurrency? 😮 I remember back in college, I was working at a retail store and my co-workers were on the computer talking about this thing called “Bitcoin”. I had no idea what it was and thought it was dumb as a result. Fast forward 10 years, and wow, I was wrong lol. Blockchain, the technology that powers cryptocurrencies, has introduced a new way to exchange value. One that does not rely on a trusted 3rd party (ex: bank). Even Dogecoin, which started as a meme coin, is now being used as a digital currency. You can literally use it (and other crypto) to buy movie tickets at AMC or even pick up a new graphics card from Newegg 🥹. Crypto is also one way I diversify my investment portfolio. If you’re someone who prefers investing through traditional finance accounts, there are also ways some investors gain exposure to crypto through products like ETPs (Exchange Traded Products)—so you’re not limited to only using a crypto exchange or self-custody wallet (which can be complex to set up and manage).
