I’m learning ASL now I love it. It’s been a passion of mine for a long time and I started learning a while ago but they say to be fluent. It’s gonna take some years, and that’s fine because love it.

Love it when you use the language for a reason and start with your empathy. People think it’s something to play with the language but it’s big and much deeper why we embrace the languages.

I was Presidential Fellow working on my Dissertation at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. I met a Deaf woman and we became very close friends. Her residential school story drove my Dissertation Research. It changed my life beyond measure .

I learned at the age of 10. My best friend is deaf. She moved into the neighborhood. I grew up in her. Mom was walking around saw me playing and asked if I would be her friend. From there she taught me how to sign as well as at the time her Interpreter put on afterschool program. I went every day after school. I did not think I’d become an interpreter and yet here I am today. I also met my husband who has a deaf son.❤️🙏

Thank you so much for sharing your stories! It’s inspiring to see as an interpreting student. Your content has helped me learn a lot of language watching and inspired me to keep going in the program! So thank you! ❤️That’s a tough story to share but thank you please continue doing what you’re doing!

I had a deaf friend in middle school and that's when I started learning. I've done ASL 1-5, deaf ed, linguistics, classifiers, finger and number smelling and ethics. It also helped to see my friends signing for musicians why I was going through surgery.
