@jennasheinelle: Lena Dunham shares the story of how she came to the decision to get a hysterectomy when her endometriosis became unbearable, despite her dreams of being a mother, and how she's since realized she will be grateful to start a family in whatever way it comes about 💕 #JennaandSheinelle

Meanwhile a hysterectomy might not solve endometriosis because it can grow anywhere in the body 😭

My hysterectomy at 31 from having endometriosis saved my life! I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer after my hysterectomy.

she's doing such a nice job in her interviews, with moving back and forth from her own experience to how it links to broader issues.

I had a hysterectomy. My PCP said “why do you want a surgery?” After the surgery, the surgeon told me that I would have died and bled out if I had gotten pregnant. She also said my fibroids were growing into my only good kidney. I didn’t have endometriosis but had birth defects and fibroids that grow like an octopus. I was in terrible pain and was very anemic from bleeding.

The delay to diagnosis for all women’s autoimmune issues is approx 8 years. It’s terrible

@Literary.Girl 📚: I love her always. All the things we claim we want for women, the place in men dominated fields, the excellence on her own terms, the authenticity, the boldness of vision and the courage to carry it out despite the noise, the support of other women, the vulnerability despite the public judgement, the embracing of her body and face as good the way it shows up, the refusal to hate herself when she became wildly successful, the intellectual curiosity.

I truly feel so odd about the fact that as an almost 42 year old I could not be happier about not having kids. I have fully moved on from the idea at all and just live life regret free. I just have no desire for kids.

I wish that we could normalize not talking or speaking or saying anything until someone is done speaking because it's interrupting them plain and simple. affirmations of showing that you're listening can be interrupting.

She’s standing up for endometriosis but she’s also standing up for misdiagnosis of women with cancer. I had no choice but 1 in 8 women won’t either. Women have to self advocate to the point of live saving measures

I went through painful endometriosis too and only found relief through a complete hysterectomy. It took years before my doctor would listen to me

I lived with it until I was 40 and had a hysterectomy. I prayed for death SO many times when I was in Endometriosis episodes.

Reading these comments and feeling like I’ve found people that understand the pain and thinking that your gyno should just be able to diagnose something that requires a specialist

I had a complete hysterectomy at 36 due to endometriosis, fibroids and adenomyosis. I couldn’t even sit. I’ve been in menopause since. Adopted two brothers out of foster care in ‘16 ❤️

I had adenomyosis. My uterus was so enflamed and enlarged that it looked like I was 9 months pregnant when I had my hysterectomy. I was anemic and suffering. It literally saved my life. And I went through 3 doctors before I found someone who would hear me.

There is no worse feeling of knowing your body can’t do what it was designed to do, that teen girls can do on accident. My scars remind me that my body failed me. 🥺
