If you went from 3k steps a day to suddenly walking 10k steps and more in day, consistently, you’re going to gain weight temporarily, even if you’re in a calorie deficit and trying to lose weight. You’re rebuilding your lower body muscles and there’ll be water retention. This is happening to me now. This is why I don’t agree when inactive people are put on a weight lifting program immediately for fear of ‘muscle loss’…just start walking more, and lift the weights after you’ve been consistently active for a couple months.

10k steps doesn't make you automatically lose weight. you can walk 50k everyday and still gain weight if you're not in a calorie deficit

Exercise barely impacts weight loss. It’s calories

Inflammation, water retention, hormones. Dealing with the same thing. I stopped working out and am getting more sleep, just easy walking and it’s going down

Muscle weighs more than fat. Your body is changing and adapting. If you feel well, keep walking 😊

btw you dont "burn" more calories by sports. gaining muscle mass increases the calories you need. but thats a longterm change. how much you eat effects your weight. you just got a bit more muscles now

It’s inflammation, when I increased my steps I gained 4 pounds of water weight until my body adjusted it took about 6 weeks

Thats normal. Stay off the scale and keep doing what you’re doing. It will balance out. Trust the process

ppl are so dumb. a lack of calorie deficit is not the only way to gain weight. if you are doing 10k steps a day and you are not used to doing it, chances are, you're sore. if you are sore, your muscles WILL retain water as you heal. I started doing 10k steps a day and I took a rest day or two of a lower number of steps to heal. at the end of those days (after peeing my brains out, my clothes were looser and I had lost a couple of pounds.
