I love combined continental knitting, but I literally can't do it in the round, and I have no idea why this is happening

As a crocheter who is learning knitting w/o lessons or guidance, continental combination/combined continental is the only way knitting has made sense to me. Pretty devastated that patterns aren’t always made for this style but that’s my next step in learning!

I am mesmerized as a new knitter. I don’t have any knitting style at the moment, just hold it firm enough to keep tension 😂. Probably not a good thing.

I love combination continental knitting for ribbing and working in the round but my stockinette looks wonky when I knit flat 🥺 I’ve tried so hard to fix it but my stitches look zigzaggy unless I do the traditional purl (which I hate!)

So I taught myself how to knit and crochet my grandma could crochet but we bedazzled and my mom is not crafty and no one does any crochet or knitting around me so I have to teach myself and it's been quite tricky learning anything so these videos are always so good to find stuff to learn

English flicker here, but I recently learned combination knitting for my current WIP. The piece has both cables and large blocks of rib (8k by 2p), and the tension between stitches is so even that I don't think I can ever go back. Game changer!

I didn't know i knitted combined continental until I saw how other people knit and wondered why they hated purling so much. i love being able to knit and purl while not looking at my work. My biggest advice for knitters is learing to read the stitches, hate when people think my stiches are twisted.

no joke, I tried combined continental knitting after trying traditional continental and it clicked to easily iny head. this was my first time doing stockinette ever, also first time purling ever. ignore the bottom, I tried ribbing and failed.

I usually knit like this, but have adopted the Norwegian purl for a lace work recently. I found it slightly more natural for knitting in to purl stitches and purling into knit stitches

Was your grandma from Eastern Europe by any chance? Cause that’s how I was taught to knit in Ukraine and before I found out that this is very much /not/ how people knit in the most of the world i genuinely didn’t understand the idea of « twisted stitches ». It’s like impossible to twist them. Honestly such an amazing style it’s also one of the most kind to your wrists

so glad there's a name for this because I unintentionally taught myself this and everyone told me I was wrong but it always worked out!

I knit combined continental but the knitting charts are messed up for me and I have to switch stitch direction to follow them exactly (until I understand what they need to look like)
