Tape ins are specifically meant to be a semi permanent extensions meaning you can wash them just as you wash your hair as long as you installed them properly and hit the tape with a straightener while installing they will stay. Mine have been in for 3 months now and I’m going to move them up in a few weeks. The amount of misinformation in this comment section is concerning

hairstylist here, tape ins will only damage ur hair if your hair is already damaged and if you apply and take them off improperly. there’s a risk of hair loss for every extension method if you get it done properly you’ll have minimal damage

As a hairstylist these are my rules: don’t wash too often, I wash mine once or twice a week. Don’t use too hot or too cold water. Use a salon grade shampoo or conditioner, I love Joico luster lock. Don’t scrub too crazy, it will tangle the hair. Don’t wash upside down, it will tangle the hair. Make sure you are still getting every part of your scalp clean kind of squeezing the shampoo through. Conditioner should not touch the tape. Thoroughly rinse. Sometimes shampoo twice if it’s really dirty. Use a very good leave in conditioner. Detangle very gently starting from the ends while it’s completely wet.gently towel dry. Always blow it dry and try to make your blowdry last. Like I said I wash mine about once a week. So dry shampoo, overnight curls, and a bonnet will be your new bffs. Always wrap at night and serum when you’re done styling and as needed through your ends.

Cosmetologist here, tape ins do not ruin your hair. As long as you take proper care of them and remove them properly you will only loose your natural 100 strands a day that is normal to loose. As far as washing them I’m not really sure what issue you’re having? What I will say is do not bend over the tub or sink forward to wash them. The best way is to stand in the shower and shampoo it that way, scrub the root with your finger tips not your nails, then just run the shampoo down the remainder of the hair, make sure to condition mids to ends.

I use a squeezy hair dye applicator bottle. fill with shampoo and a little water to get between the tapes. it helps so much.

I wore tape ins for like 15 years so make sure your shampoo is sulfate free, alcohol free and not too hydrating only mind moisturizing.

genuinely so much more work but its worth it for inches. i section it out doing a layer at a time. let some down get it wet add shampoo repeat. then rinse it all like normal but thoroughly and condition the ends but NOT the root. then blow dry.

Use a hair dye bottle with diluted shampoo to get at the root really well, no flipping upside down and always point the blow dryer downward never side to side to keep from tangling
