can you tell me, what may be going on if a 7yo won't play alone or with other children but constantly asks for a parent to play with them or watch them play, what might be going on?

My son is 4 and he does a lot of copycat playing..meaning he always is just doing whatever his friend is doing, literally copying him. He never seems to take the leader role but always more of a sidekick (?)
