People handle chopsticks in whatever way is easier and most comfortable for them, like a pen. I rest the lower one on my ring finger and the upper on my middle finger with my index and thumb tip holding it in place and I can eat literally anything with them. This handling looks really awkward to me

As toddlers we just grab them and make it work however we can, so a lot of us Chinese end up doing it improperly for life… so I’m always impressed when I see Gwailos doing it correctly 😭
