During our visit to Hanoi, Vietnam, we met a Japanese traveler who was exploring the city all on his own. At first, he was very quiet, keeping mostly to himself. But something made me approach him and start a simple conversation—and that small moment turned into something meaningful.
As we talked, he slowly opened up and began sharing his experiences in Vietnam. What started as a casual chat became a genuine connection. We exchanged stories, laughter, and perspectives as fellow travelers far from home, yet somehow finding comfort in each other’s company.
Before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye. We exchanged Facebook accounts and took photos together—simple memories that would later mean so much more.
After three days, we all returned to our respective countries. Then one day, we saw his post on Facebook. He tagged us and shared that the best experience he had in Vietnam was meeting a Filipino who welcomed him and became his friend.
In a place far from home, we didn’t just visit a new country—we touched someone’s life, and he touched ours too.
