@chimka_travels: My favorite part is how people glorify medieval knights and medieval European warfare like that was the peak of civilization and military genius. Meanwhile, those same “advanced” armies lost to the Mongols and then turned around and wrote about them like they were just evil barbarians. Like sure… that’s definitely why you lost. Not because your armies were slower, heavier, less mobile, and less adapted to that kind of warfare. Definitely not because Mongol steppe warriors came from a completely different life system. A system where boys and girls were both taught the same core survival skills. Where kids were put on horses basically from the earliest age. Where riding, speed, discipline, and endurance were just normal life. And definitely not because Mongols were smarter about warfare either, right? Not because they used multiple horses per warrior to rotate them, keep them rested, and maintain speed over huge distances. Not because they mastered faster, more mobile archery. Not because they created military systems Europe couldn’t handle. No, apparently when Europeans do something advanced, it’s called innovation, strategy, genius.
