Musa Ngum was born in 1953 in Fatoto, Kantora District, Upper River Region, The Gambia. He passed away on 11 October 2015 at Le Dantec Hospital in Dakar, Senegal, at the age of about 62. He was laid to rest in Touba, Senegal, on 12 October 2015. One of the beautiful symbols associated with Musa Ngum was his habit of wearing two different 👞 👟. One representing Senegal 🇸🇳 and the other representing The Gambia 🇬🇲. This powerful symbol reflected his belief that although our two countries are separated by a border, our people are one. His songs carried a message of unity that crossed borders. He used his extraordinary voice not only to entertain, but to bring Gambians and Senegalese closer together and remind us of the bonds that connect us. Musa Ngum left an unforgettable mark on Senegambia. His music, his message, and his vision of unity will continue to live on in the hearts of generations to come. May The Gambia and Senegal forever honour and remember this great son of Senegambia. May we continue to celebrate the unity he believed in and the bridges he built through his music.
