At first, I was moving in a lighter direction. But in the process I felt that it didn’t match where I was anymore… So I stopped holding onto the initial idea and allowed the painting to shift. I kept reworking the sky, again and again, until it became deeper, heavier, more tense. Not as a decision to make it “darker”, but as a way to make it honest. And at some point I understood what this piece became for me 😌 A reflection of something simple: when you don’t deny your current state, you begin to see more clearly where you actually need to go, your direction, your own light.
