@checkyesjesshistory: April 16th 1565 Elizabeth Throckmorton is born, later Lady Elizabeth Raleigh Elizabeth “Bess” Throckmorton become a member of Queen Elizabeth I of England household in 1584, this is where she would meet her future husband, Sir Walter Raleigh; both Bess and Walter were favorite’s of Elizabeth I, until their secret marriage was exposed and led to their imprisonments. Elizabeth “Bess, was member of “Gentlewoman of the Privy Chamber” Bess was to obey the Queen and display “Chastity, modesty and of course obedience. Bess would end up breaking all of these rules and married Sir Walter Raleigh in 1591. This was kept a secret from Queen Elizabeth I of England until their first child was born in 1592, however Bess and Sir Walter Raleigh denied their marriage or even a child being born; it wasn’t long until Elizabeth I found out the truth, the couple did marry in secret, without her permission and had a child and hid the child from the Queen. Bess and Sir Walter Raleigh were sent to the Tower but then released later that same year in 1592. Sir Walter Raleigh was executed on October 29th 1618; Bess, Lady Raleigh spent a portion of the remainder of her life trying to restore her husband’s reputation. This eventually worked and by 1628, Bess and Walter’s sons could now inherit their fathers lands and assets. It’s hilarious how wrong and absurd Elizabeth: the Golden Age is. Clive Owen isn’t Walter: he’s Francis Drake. And the hissy fit scene where Elizabeth slaps her is SO STUPID it makes me laugh so hard 😅😅😅
