The pay dropped because the work force got oversaturated. Economy 101, the simple supply and demand. The more workers there are, the bigger competition is to get a job. The bigger competition it is to get a job the employer can offer less pay.

I would say it's the accessibility of views and interaction that has tanked demand in marketing. Some dude with a pizza place and a tik Tok account can have better results advertising than an entire boardroom of employees.
