Thank you. Medieval period is so interesting, but also so misunderstood. Mostly because the Victorian scholarship. People always loved color along with tasty food and being clean. They were people dammit!

Many people believe that ancient knowledge was not preserved. However medieval monks and scribes preserved ancient texts by hand-copying them. A huge amount of texts arrived to us that otherwise would have been lost.

Heavily agreed on the last one! People act like morals and laws are some sort of modern invention when in fact things like rap3, violence, etc. were heavily frowned upon and against the law and in fact punishable.

In early medieval Europe before the Black Death outbreak in the 1300s Europeans didn’t bathe at least not often as it was seen as vanity since Europeans were deeply Christian they believed they should focus on the wellbeing of their soul rather than their hygiene.

I love learning about debunking myths during the early and late 14th century. I was honestly today’s years old when I learned that the Black Death was spread through flea bites which often times came off of rats, cattle, dogs, cats, and other domesticated animals during that time period. Conditions weren’t entirely clean and sanitary during this time period but was in the process of advancing. I will say tho the Jewish people were well ahead of their time despite being seen as heretic and wicked. It’s honestly such a cool and popular period! I took some medieval Europe in college this year lol
