@calmmoneycoach: Last video I showed you how most families lose money trying to transfer property. This one is the other side. Five gifting strategies that actually work. Most of these are simpler than you think. The problem is nobody talks about them. In this video: → Cash gifts to adult children (cleanest tool in Canada, no tax, no attribution) → The RRSP meltdown gifting strategy (draw down your RRSP at lower rates, gift the cash, kids max their TFSA year after year) → Prescribed rate loans for couples (income splitting at 3%, but miss the Jan 30 deadline and it is permanently ruined) → Donating securities in-kind (0% capital gains tax, full donation credit, roughly $20K better on a $100K donation from a non-reg account) → Why a Deed of Gift matters (the Supreme Court of Canada says your gift could end up back in your estate without one) And the most important point: none of this matters if you do not know your own numbers first. Before you gift anything, make sure you can actually afford to. I have been building detailed guides on every topic in this series. Community launching soon. Follow along. Not financial advice. Talk to a fee-only planner or estate lawyer. #estateplanning #canadiantax #gifting #wealthtransfer #financialplanning

Enjoying all these posts very much. Can you do a video on the value of paying for an investment advisor/coach to actively manage assets vs DIY? I feel like this is a hotly debated topic and the extra expense may earn you more money in the long run, for a variety of reasons unrelated to simply rates of return on investments?

Why do you need a deed of gift unless there is an obvious paper trail (eg transferring property or a registered vehicle)? Any other gift such as artwork or jewelry should fly under the CRA radar?
