As a person who scored a 9 on the ACEs test, had an addict mom & alcoholic dad, parents were permissive and who is diagnosed with bipolar disorder I really should have never even given drugs and alcohol a chance. Because it feels like I was destined to become an addict once I did 😭 currently on day 5 of inpatient rehab so I’m trying to stay sober but it feels like things are stacked against me. Can you make a video that explores the bipolar addiction connection more? Thanks for posting these. They’re helpful in my recovery. ❤️

When I drink alcohol I get really red and hot, also I feel like I can't breathe and my heart beats really fast. I really don't drink because of this is this like an intolerance to alc?

My dad was a recovering alcoholic and became a drug and alcohol counselor. When I came of age we were careful to expose me to alcohol carefully and thoughtfully. I can now drink occasionally without worry, but when my mental health is off, I'll go dry for awhile to minimize risk.

many of my elders can smoke and can stop smoking whenever. I sometimes smoke but I'm not drawn to it same with alcohol.

Do we know how common just radically different experiences play a role? I hear people talk about taking oxy and feeling totally euphoric while, for me, it doesn't even reduce pain much, so I would never become addicted to that specific drug.

How can you tell which substances you will or won’t enjoy? the only thing i regularly consume is alcohol but ive tried a handful of other stuff and most of the things i’ve tried have done absolutely nothing for me?

when I was little and seen people high on TV I remember thinking I wanted that I literally have never men another human that's said that I know when I was young that life sucked I guess lmao also I became an addict my parents weren't but most my family was but I don't remember seeing my family high around me
