I feel like cinnabar wasn't wrong in their statement that everyone loves phos. whether they found phos irritating or not someone was always there for phos and tried to help. phos always had someone and usually that someone was lost because phos was careless. they lived phos like a little sibling and pitied cinnabar like a sick child. phos may have cared for cinnabar at one point but after the loss of their arms and legs it became more about what they thought cinnabar wanted and what cinnabar could do for them. cinnabar simply wanted a partner. someone to be with them, but phos never understood that. I believe the reason cinnabar lacked empathy for phos is because in cinnabar's eyes phos put themselves into this situation similar to how he put himself into night duty. in the way cinnabar took park in his isolation phos isolated themselves through their non stop desire for a truth no one asked them for. without considering if they really needed to. cinnabar does the opposite and becomes what the gems need but also a friend, not simply keeping themselves aways forever

cinnabar and Phos are definitely not two sides of the same coin although they may appear as such on the first sight. Phos' defining characteristic is their drive for change and progress (first finding a job for Cinna, then saving everyone from endless pointless war), while Cinnabar thrives in stagnation and supports a deeply abusive system even while being it's victim. Even Phos calls them out on it prior to their final clash, calling out how Cinnabar immediately jumped to defend a structure that abused them for centuries the moment they were considered useful
