I’m not Katie’s biggest fan, but she is 100% correct in this. You don’t know other ppls horses. If you talk to the owner and they are ok with you interacting with the horse? That’s great. But just going up to a random horse and interacting with it is not a good idea

I commented on this and people kept telling me I was an idiot and have never been to a horse show… I’ve owned horses for all 25 years, shown for 15 of them. People dont do this at these shows, where horses are 6 figures. They don’t. Maybe state fairs and little shows.

I live out in horse country and the amount of people who will pull over the side of the road to pet horses is ridiculous.

Honestly all the barns at horse shows should be closed to the public, I worked with FEI horses and we needed a special wristband to get into that level of barn. The amateur horses anyone could walk through and those horses are extremely expensive as well

unless theres a sign or someone tells me I can pet an animal (if its THEIR animal) im not touching an animal. I dont know them. it doesnt matter how much i love horses. I will not touch one unless I have been given a go ahead.

I saw her video too. I’ve never been to a horse show, but it seems like common courtesy to not interrupt people when they are busy or go up to their horses. I don’t even pet a strangers dog without asking for permission. Thank you for helping to share the word and education.

I live in another part of the world and was shocked that the barns/stables are open for public 😳. Not even the small riding clubs here have it and the bigger only rider/groom are allowed at all

Why is it so hard to understand to NOT PET ANIMALS THAT DONT BELONG TO YOU. I’m someone who loves animals and wants to pet them all, but I also understand that they don’t belong to me and I can’t just pet them

I've been to a horse vaulting show and been in the barn area at a rodeo bc I was on a team. it was common sense to me as a 9yr old performer to not reach in to stalls of horses you don't know. did i walk around and look at all the gorgeous horses? yeah but never ever thought to reach in and touch them.
