Because your intention mainly determines if you’re a good human being

personally I wouldn't film someone in a vulnerable situation especially if they didn’t clearly agree or don’t fully understand how the video will be used.

There's a difference between something being useful and something being morally right. The difference for most people is about morality, which is different from utility. But the example you made is fundamentally flawed, because the person filming the homeless person is humiliating the homeless person and trampling on their dignity. I think this is clear no matter the difference in perceiving emotions.

I’m neurodivergent. Genuinely don’t care about the persons intentions with giving charity as long as it’s helping the other person.

Because intentions can be subjectively percieved by an objectively good act and to differentiate between 'actaully good' and 'pretending to be good' is a difference percieved by some people to position themseleves higher or lower moral ground than others. Measures like this seems

Intention is the basis of your modus operandi. In your example, your intent is self serving, whilst the other is self less. The latter is moving, in good conscience, whilst you are moving devoid of such intent. Such distinction illustrates your fundamental character.

Two people can do the same thing; and one of them be in the wrong. It’s a weird concept, but it’s true. And when you know why someone does something you can predict future behavior to some degree

I've been reading the comments and I truly believe there's no such thing as doing things for others just bc they need help. I used to think this is what I was doing, but we all do things just to feel something. When you help someone, you feel good, it's unavoidable, and it's the reason you do it to begin with. You can delude yourself with the intent shtick but when you dig down do enough, you're doing it because it makes you feel good. And this is great! Feel good! Life is freaking hard, so things that make you feel good about yourself!

It doesn’t change the result. A good deed is a good deed. However, the reason is just a way to judge character. If someone did something good for ‘the wrong reasons’, it doesn’t negate the good they did. It just helps me decide if I want them in my life or not 🤷🏻‍♀️

Very self reflective being able to recognise you feel nothing and still choosing to do something good.

because once you realize the intent you can understand how the person operates and predict how theyd react in a different scenario, mostly important ones where that difference could generate a completly different end that could be very good or very bad/impact your life

Intention informs future action. If your motivators are different your decision making will change. If you are motivated by your benefit you are easier to manipulate or rather to predict and avoid

it's just like the saying goes "impact over intent". If you do something that hurts someone, but your intent wasn't that, you still hurt someone. it doesn't really matter that you didn't mean to, that person was still hurt. you can't invalidate or ignore that pain just bc you didn't intend it. goes both ways.

I get it, I don’t know why the reasoning behind good deeds should matter but I know that it’s sometimes about ensuring those people have dignity.

it's an empathetic and moral thing that doesn't really have a logical reason it's just one of those things where you have to be a naturally empathetic and emotional person to understand it. but regardless of intent, if ur doing something good, ur doing something good and it's always better than doing something bad.

It's a social mechanism. People want to know whether that person is a good person or not. It's not about what the broke man gets,it's about who the giver is.
