@goliathliftzz: Doug Hepburn became one of the most dominant strength athletes of his era. In 1953, he won the World Weightlifting Championships, earning recognition as the strongest man in the world. He was also the first person to bench press 500 lbs — a milestone that redefined strength at the time. What makes his story even more unusual is how he trained. Hepburn didn’t believe in training to failure. Instead, he focused on cumulative strength and controlled progression. His system was simple: 8 sets of 2 reps. Build to 8x3. Increase the weight. Repeat. No burnout sets. No extreme fatigue. Just consistent, repeatable strength building. This approach became one of the foundations of old-school powerbuilding. Some lifters still follow variations of this system today while others believe modern training has moved beyond it. What’s the secret to building that level of strength? ##getstronger##trainhardorgohome##goliathliftzz##buildmusclefaster #powerliftingtiktok
I bench 485 with wraps at 16 and I do 2x failure and I don’t have like 50% bf

It’s a really interesting concept. I think that as long as you are progressively overloading, you are getting stronger, so there really is nothing that forces you to go to failure if getting strong is your only goal. I want to try training like that sometime in the future.

Progressive overload for strength and sets to failure for muscle grown but you should just do both my benching a 5x5 or 5x4

For strenght focused training the most important factor is doing a movement heavy enough and often enough.
