If this drags on much longer, file a HIPAA complaint with HHS. They can’t hold your records hostage or hide behind bureaucratic process. They have to send to a place of your choosing within 30 days of the original request.

I had to pay like $50 to my urologist’s office for my records. They just physically printed them off and I had to drive there to pick them up. Ridiculous. How could the CT scan truly be in that packet without a digital record with the images??

if you just need a list of medications you might have an easier time requesting them from the pharmacy if that's possible? i'm not sure the process for other pharmacies but i worked at the big 3 letter one and there you can call and have them mail your medication records to your address on file or show up in person with your ID and they'll print them there

I work in medical records for a practice that does everything in house- 3rd party copy services are the WORST and they take forever. Offices that rely on them are so slow and incompetent. We do all of the records in house and even tho it’s also slow I’m still faster than a copy service 😎

a lot of my job is calling and requesting medical records if they are doing this go to the office and request them and say you will sit in the waiting room until you get them. also if your calling the records department and there doing this talk to a receptionist and say whats going on most of the time they can send it too

Mine lost my ultrasound records and no one can find them so yeah it was super important to spend months getting that first snapshot of a issue i could visibly see as a comparison point.

as a clinical research associate who works on clinical trials, thank you for trying 😂 your coordinator should also be able to request the records by providing your signed consent form to the doctors office! they may still dodge the request, but then not your problem 😂 we also can use approximate dates for meds, and if your doctor can reconcile meds with you from your memory & sign off, that should be acceptable!
