We had the same event and I brought my son and I lunch. My son told his friend whose parents didn’t come “sit with us, we will share with you” and I gave my entire lunch to him. That moment I knew I raised my baby just right🥹🩵

I was late to my son’s first thanksgiving lunch. I was waiting for somebody to relieve me at work. They told me they would lock the doors at a certain time when they ran out of meal tickets (we weren’t allowed to bring our own food). I had to park so far cause the school was packed I ran to the front office so fast! I was out of breath so I’d be in there before they locked the doors. Once I got checked in i had to go get my son from his classroom (the kids that parents didn’t come had to have lunch in there classroom) he was hysterical crying saying “ I thought you forgot about me momma” I never was late again. 😭😭

Growing up my parents never showed up to school events.. Now that I’m older and became a mom, I made sure never to miss any of her school events. It’s a different kind of hurt to not see your parents show up😢🥺.

my kids in 8th grade and I still feel bad for the kids who parents can't come. Im so gratefull I am able to take extra food everything.

Im a teacher assistant and we had the same event. As a mom, my heart broke seeing my students wait for their parents. Three of them didn’t have anyone with them. Our teacher stayed and had lunch with them but obviously it wasn’t the same. I couldn’t handle the feeling seeing them so sad.

Honestly I get why schools do this but as a mom I would feel guilty if I see a kid without a parent I would want them to join us so they know they're not alone ❤️🩹

Why do they do this?! This shouldn’t be allowed. So many parents are day to day with money and can’t skip work. So sad for those kids that are alone 😔

Either way u still strong cuz this momma would of been crying and my son would of been asking me why and I would of just hug him tight and tell him next time I will be an hour early 😭💝 am just so sensitive when it come to my babies

I accidentally missed one of my sons egg hunts at school (went to wrong location) I get spotty cell service at his school. And when I finally got to reread his paper the hunt was over. I went to pick him up and his little cookie and egg carton were on his desk and my heart broke into a million pieces. I apologized over and over again. When my husband got home I ugly cried because I felt so bad for missing it but being able to go to older brothers. I told him I never wanted him to feel like I don’t care or I forgot I was just in the wrong spot 😭😭😭

When I went to my kids pick nick with your student I was excited to spend the afternoon with them. But it made me sad because I saw so many kids crying because their parents didn’t show up. And they are so you g to understand that sometimes we just can’t make it to all their schools events.

Last year I went to my son field day and I took a bunch of snacks and fruit and drinks and 4 of my sons friends parents didn’t go due to work and I was all the boys mom.Let’s do better parents let’s make it important to go to the kids school events.

i hate and love these type of things. one because i get to spend time with my kids but hate because i see soo many kids without their parents and it makes me soo emotional. everytime theres gonna be one i take extra food, because my daughters bring their friends with us and they sit with us because their parents work. but i wish i could do it for everyone 🥺

Girrrrl I’ve cried at 2 of these while eating my food because kids not having anyone there, at our very first picnic, it was my sons friend and he sat with us and we shared our meal 😭
