I feel like X liking Sonic is a demented form of respect towards his heroism, which we see embodied in the future addition of Sonic Vessels in the X Timeline, when Lord X matures and allows the presence of a Sonic Vessel, they are chosen sparingly for characteristics that Lord X seemingly respects, what I can assume is characteristics matching those of Sonic, in a way he does respect Sonic, just again in his own Demented way.
