I know it’s been said a few times in the comments but take your take and do a full on blow out. Stretch the hair as much as you can. I promise it makes all the difference!

get one of these , part a middle part first then the sides , use more product/ you might need a different gel & when you braid make sure your fingers stay at the scalp the whole time

How are you guys getting each hair pull to be so even? I’m super struggling with that part. Each time I grab hair to pull it into the braid, it’s bigger or smaller than last time. Something has to be off with my technique.
