@healthcoach_emma: Nobody told you there are three completely different types of magnesium - and taking the wrong one means you're missing the exact benefit your midlife body actually needs 🤪 This isn't a 'just take magnesium' post. This is a 'here's which one does what - and why your 45-year-old body needs to know the difference' post. 1. Magnesium glycinate: Your sleep and nervous system ally. It's highly absorbable, gentle on the gut, and calms the anxiety that's keeping you wired at 11pm when you're desperate to switch off. If you're waking at 3am with your mind already racing - this is the one. 2. Magnesium citrate: Your digestion and muscle tension support. It draws water into the bowel, which means it helps with the sluggish digestion and bloating that creeps in during perimenopause. It also eases muscle cramps and tension headaches. Practical. Unglamorous. Effective. 3. Magnesium L-threonate: Your brain's best friend. It's one of the only forms that can actually cross the blood-brain barrier - which is why it works differently for brain fog, memory, and cognitive sharpness than any other type. If you've been walking into rooms and forgetting why, this matters. Here's what nobody explains: during perimenopause, shifting oestrogen levels change how your body absorbs and uses magnesium. What was enough at 35 is genuinely not enough at 45 - through no fault of yours. This isn't a willpower gap. It's a physiological one. Only 30–40% of dietary magnesium is absorbed even under ideal conditions. Midlife makes those conditions harder to hit. So before you grab the cheapest bottle on the shelf - know which one you actually need. If you want to know where magnesium fits inside a full nutrition picture designed for your real life, my FREE guide walks you through exactly that. Comment Magnesium for more information.
