I’m personally not a fiction kin, but I’m pretty sure it’s thinking you were a fictional character in a past life, BUT not in this dimension, in a different one. A dimension where that character and their world took place.

I’m a fictionkin. It basically is like being a therian but instead of being an animal, you remember being a character. There are different types of fictionkin though, most don’t like doubles and think they are the only version of that character and some let doubles interact. And some even think they still are the character, and some think they were the character, but all alterhumans are valid

I thought fiction kins were when you REALLY RELATED to a character not that you thought you actually WERE the character! like I consider myself to be a Hector kin but that’s because of his personality!

As one of those myself, it is a bit hard to understand, but if you can understand the thinking of an animal, you just gotta flip one switch and making that animal into a character, so think of it like this. You meet a character let's name them Richard Richard seems very important to you, you'll feel a spiritual connection, you relate to him, you see him differently, and now you do some research and that's it sorry if it wasn't the best

many people have a belief in multiple universes or reincarnation (both in and out of the Alterhuman community). but others, such as myself, most likely started identifying as a character due to neurodivergency/how our brains just work unrelated to past lives as well

I'm a fiction kin of many characters, but I don't believe I AM those characters. I just identify as them as like part of my gender/identity expression.

you don't have to fully understand it as long as you're respectful about it! if you want an explanation, though- i dont personally have a past life. i hyperfixated on a character so hard that i ended up developing an internal identity as them. i get a lot of euphoria from being seen as them and treated as them!

So, for some its apart of the infinite universe theory. out there, somewhere, theres a universe in which our fiction is their reality and WE'RE the fictional ones. And some believe that souls can cross through universes. There's also the fact that for many its psychological. :) Not all fictionkin (or therians) are spiritual in origin. In the end, origin doesnt matter. Spiritual, psychological, etc, its all just an explination for why the Identitiy exists. But what really matters is that the Identitiy exists in the first place.

im one and im not very educated yet on it but for me I dont belive i was then but I just am them I act like them without thinking being called his name, being told im him, wearing things he would wear make me feel so comfortable and full I see content of him and my brain says "me!!" I feel weird when im shipped with people or other kins of mine becuase he is me and I ignore it because it does no harm but it feels strange and uncomfortable I dont like yunmes with my kins or doubles because its me so it feels strange I just feel like I am him and being treated as such makes me very comfortable even though I only do so with friends

Think of it like the spiderverse, there are multiple versions of spiderman. So if there is a multiverse, then there could be or could have been different versions of everyone! Including characters that are fictional in our universe, because they would be real in their universe! At least that's what I believe, but other fictionkins may have different ways of thinking of it ^^
