My German grandmother made it all the time. Cabbage was the “extender” for the beef. Try finely chopped cabbage in your ground beef dishes. Crazy good in sloppy joes!!!

i always hate when restaurants do not peel the potatoes. it is lazy and it gets greacy trying to peel them with all sauce on. cooking with Katie Cross made something similar but she is a southern state cook

We make almost same in Finland, called kaalilaatikko= gabbage cassarole. One of my favourite foods.

Underrated dish! Pure comfort food. Never thought of kålpudding as an uncommon dish elsewhere before since it's just basic food for us, but that whole flavor palette is truly Swedish/Scandi/Nordic when you think about it. Love to re-discover our own dishes through someone else POV. 🥰

The story begins with King Charles XII of Sweden. After losing the Battle of Poltava in 1709, he spent several years in exile in Bender (then part of the Ottoman Empire). When he and his creditors finally returned to Sweden in 1715, they brought back various cultural influences, including Middle Eastern cuisine. One of these dishes was the Dolma—minced meat and rice wrapped in grape leaves. which then became kålpudding
