unfortunately a lot of otome turned anime will completely ruin the mc because any of the actually smart decisions she makes are tied to routes and they want as many fans to be happy so they don't pick a route

I prefer the game. If you play the game first, then read the manga, and then watch the anime, it’ll feel really strange and annoying. My advice is to do it the other way round. IMO, I feel her character development is better in the game. They make her dirty(anime), as if it were just for fan service.
